SCRAM House Arrest

Purpose

This page explains all the steps involved with replacing the “CH” bracelet straps. You’ll notice as you follow the quick sheet that the faceplate and battery are also replaced as part of the strap replacement.

What you will need:

The following items are needed to replace the bracelet straps:

• New straps
• New faceplate
• New battery
• Faceplate Removal Tool
• Torx Screwdriver
• Brush Cloth

Procedure

1. Complete the Bracelet Maintenance.
   To complete the bracelet maintenance:
   1. Access the client’s Equipment page.
   2. Click the Maintenance link.
   3. Enter a date.
   4. Select the Straps Replaced check box.
   5. Select the strap version.
   6. Click the Complete Bracelet Maintenance button.
      The bracelet re-initialization, which must be performed each time the bracelet is removed, will begin the next time that the bracelet communicates with SCRAMNET^®.
2. Remove Old Faceplate.
   To remove the faceplate:
   1. Insert the Faceplate Removal Tool into the slots on the right side of the bracelet.
   2. Press the tool in until the faceplate disengages.
   3. Remove the faceplate.
      Note: Discard the faceplate.

3. Remove Old Straps.
   To remove the straps:
   1. With faceplate removed, place the bracelet on a firm surface.
   2. Using the Torx screwdriver provided by SCRAM Systems^®, remove the two outside Torx screws then remove the middle screw.

   3. Remove the strap.
   4. Using the Torx screwdriver provided, remove the two outside Torx screws then remove the middle screw.
   5. Remove the second strap.
      Note: Discard the straps.
4. Remove Old Battery.
   To remove the battery:
   1. Place your finger tip on the edge of the negative (flat) side of the battery.
   2. Pull up on the battery, removing it from the bracelet.
      Note: Discard the battery.

5. Clean bracelet components.
   The pogo pins and battery contacts should be cleaned any time that the straps are removed. To clean the components using the AMS-approved brush and cloth or equivalent (fine-bristled brush and microfiber cloth):
   Warning: Do NOT use any type of cleaning agent, including water.
   1. Use the brush to scrub the pins and battery contacts.
   2. Use the cloth to wipe away any debris.
   3. Use the brush and cloth to remove any debris on the strap pads.
6. Install New Straps.
   To install the new straps:
   1. Firmly press the left strap (non-buckle strap) into the slot on the left side of the bracelet, aligning the strap with the two guide pins.
      Note: The straps and retainers are designed to align with only one side of the bracelet.
   2. Using the Torx screwdriver provided, tighten the Torx screws.
   3. Firmly press the right strap (buckle strap) into the slot on the right side of the bracelet, aligning the strap with the two guide pins.
   4. Using the Torx screwdriver provided, tighten the Torx screws.
7. Install New Battery.
   To install the new battery:
   1. Look closely for the outline of a battery at the bottom of the battery slot and insert the battery, starting with the positive side being pushed against the bottom side of the battery slot and pushing down on the negative (flat) side.
      A small, green light on the bracelet will turn on for 5 seconds.

8. Install New Faceplate.
   To install the new faceplate:
   1. Place the faceplate on the bracelet with the battery side flush with the case.
      Note: The faceplate is designed to align in only one direction.
   2. Starting on the top-right side and going clockwise, press down firmly on each corner of the faceplate with your thumb as shown below.
      You should hear a pronounced click as you push each corner of the faceplate.
      Warning: Moisture may enter under the faceplate if these instructions are NOT followed.
