Overview
“Direct Connect” refers to both a data-transfer device (hardware) and a computer application (software). The term is often used interchangeably to describe either.
SCRAM Direct Connect Booklet, Device, and USB Cable
The SCRAM Direct Connect device – or “hood,” as it is sometimes called – fits over the top of the SCRAM CAM device and, in conjunction with the Direct Connect software, may be used as an alternative for transferring alcohol detection readings from the device to SCRAMNET. Using Direct Connect is a useful data-transfer option when:
- The client has no other way to transfer data from their monitoring location (no Base Station)
- You require regular face-to-face check-ins with your client
- You wish to inspect the SCRAM CAM device for tampering on a regular basis
Direct Connect may also be used to change the assignment or inventory status of a SCRAM CAM or SCRAM HA device.
In addition to plugging into the Direct Connect hood, the provided USB cable also plugs into the back of the SCRAM Standard Base Station and, in conjunction with the Direct Connect software, may be used to transfer data from the Base Station to SCRAMNET, or to change the assignment or inventory status of the Base Station as well.
Next Steps:
- Install the Direct Connect software
- Use Direct Connect to perform equipment maintenance tasks
- Troubleshoot Direct Connect
- Uninstall the Direct Connect Software
